Working out on the beach
Morning workout by the sea
Just 800 metres – or a brisk ten-minute walk – from my apartment, the beach begins. It’s a straightforward place: concrete paths for running, a solid beach gym, long piers with wooden railings, basketball courts and open space with amazing views of the city, sea, Denmark and the bridge. If you follow the shoreline far enough, you reach the Western Harbour – a sharper, more urban district where stairs drop straight into the sea. Good for a swim, a moment alone, or a sunset with company. The area has all the essentials: cafés, restaurants, bars and a big open field for summer meetups.
This morning started with a workout session by the water:
– Skip rope on the pier and on a platform near the beach gym
– Pier-sprints full-out to the end
– Chins
– Dips
– Upper back
– Push-ups
– Core work
A beautiful and motivating way to start the day – sea air, breezes, amazing views, morning sun, concrete, wood and sand under your feet. Clean start.
The rest of the day includes a city walk with headphones in, linking up with my brother who’s visiting, and possibly a meeting or delivery run for a client project.
