Serving:
Should be served with a story.
Give the cocktails a drumming with the golden straws if you prefer, to give a sense of music industry to the serving.
Over the course of my career, I have collaborated with a wide array of distinguished nightclubs, grand hotels, fine-dining establishments, and refined bars.
I gravitate towards elevated, aesthetically captivating cocktails — creations defined by thoughtful conceptual depth and the integration of rare, intricate spirits. I have always sensed that there is space, even a calling, for a true VIP cocktail on the menus: a signature creation reserved for moments of significance, much like a fine vintage or an exceptional spirit — something to be requested when one seeks an immersive, dignified cocktail experience. A genuine reward, available to anyone who strives, yet adaptable in prestige to suit the most discerning clientele.
I believe a cocktail experience is rooted in a confluence of elements: the interplay of colour, form, fragrance, and the layered complexity of taste derived from the artisanal ingredients and embellishments. But beyond that lies the narrative — the commercial resonance of brands, the prestige of labels, and the intellectual pleasure of conceptual storytelling. And, of course, no cocktail is complete without its bearer — the person who serves it. That too is part of the ritual, the significance — the performance.
And may I say: the introduction to the cocktail matters just as much — how it is revealed, how one encounters it. Let that moment be elevated. Let it be singular.
During my time as a freelance graphic designer for Nikki Beach, I was entrusted with crafting a banner for a Gold Party in collaboration with Armand de Brignac — a maison I later discovered was under the stewardship of JAY-Z, and subsequently co-owned by Hennessy and Moët. In one of Beyoncé’s songs, a quote resonates with this alliance, as they sing about how she “mixes her Ace up with Hennessy” — a lyrical fragment that partially inspired this recipe.
Years later, drawing from that experience and informed by my bar education and extensive hands-on engagements, I curated this cocktail and the conceptual world around it.
Should you choose to present or serve this cocktail, I kindly ask that you honour the accompanying narrative and utilise the specified marques. Variations are permitted — for instance, selecting the Hennessy most aligned with your clientele’s profile — but the integrity of the concept must remain intact.
Essential elements include all of the specified ingredients: a golden star, a golden straw, freshly sliced strawberries, a touch of lime, and a vivid red rose. The hurricane glass is preferred, though alternatives may be embraced, provided they are aesthetically justified and of equal distinction.
